This is my own prayer shawl pattern that I designed to use as few skeins of yarn as possible per shawl, yet have a nice sized shawl that is warm, soft and rich looking. It uses a size P (11.50 mm) hook. This shawl is worked by holding two strands of yarn together to form thick, sturdy stitches that work up quickly

I’ve been getting a lot of emails asking questions about this pattern and the stitch counts. The pattern was re-written after I sent it to the publisher to include stitch counts, however those stitch counts are incorrect. It states that you will end up with 160 stitches once you skip every other stitch on the foundation chain. However, you actually only end up with 80 stitches. Also, the photograph of this shawl (which is on the following page and isn’t even really marked as being this shawl) doesn’t even show the short end of the shawl, which is where the scallops actually are, hence why it’s named Simple Scalloped Shawl.

I hope that this helps and clarifies the pattern! It is a VERY simple pattern and something I came up with to use specifically for the prayer shawl ministry. I needed something super easy before I could even really read crochet patterns well. This was the pattern I came up with and still use to this day when I want to really focus on the prayer in the shawl vs the pattern.
