Simply Knitted Baby Pants
This is a super simple pattern.
Top down, easily knitted baby pants will fit babies ranging from 3 to 24 months. Use any yarn from bulky to worsted, the pattern is written for three sizes in three different gauges: 3, 4, & 5 stitches to the inch.
You will make a knitted tube for the waistband using an interesting technique (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCVHql-_OSk)
then onto the lower body part after which you will divide for each leg.
You can knit these pants with a solid color, stripes, or any stitch pattern you choose that will yield the correct gauge.
You can crochet a decorative edge on the pant legs or embellish them with knitted appliqués after you are finished.
I used a variation of Nicky Epstein’s “leaves” page 94 of “Knitting Over The Edge” for the bottom of the pants pictured here then sewed them on, added a running stitch for vines and a few French knots for the berries. Be creative, the basic pattern is easy, the pants can be your pallet for the little extras that you choose to add.
