Sirena - Knitted Mermaid Tail Blanket
The Serena Knitted Mermaid Tail Blanket
Are you looking for a fun, fast, and cosy project? I am publishing a lot of new free patterns, so lucky you! Because I am currently off work for the summer holidays, I have been looking through all of my pattern folders, and I thought the best thing to do would be to spoil you with a lovely load of brand new designs.
This is the second pattern I designed for Deramores. Unfortunately, when their doors closed in 2022, a lot of people lost access to patterns in their inboxes. This was really sad, as there was no other option available at the time. So, if you were a previous customer and would like to get your hands on a selection of my favourite patterns that disappeared back in the day, here is the Serena knitted mermaid tail blanket, especially for you.
Technical Details
Difficulty: Confident Beginner.
Techniques: Circular knitting, stranded colourwork, managing yarn floats, and shaping via increases and decreases.
Yarn Requirements: This project uses seven different colours (Yarns A through G). All yarn is held double throughout to create a luxurious, chunky fabric.
Gauge: Approximately 12 to 14 stitches = 10cm in stockinette stitch using 8mm needles.
Customisation: Because this is knitted in the round, the length and width are easily adjustable to fit anyone from kids to adults.
Note:
Please remember to knit a swatch before you begin to ensure you are happy with the fabric density. I recommend washing and blocking your swatch to see how your chosen yarn behaves. This pattern used a discontinued yarn but detailed instructions on substituting this yarn are given in the pattern.
