Sister Sweater
SISTER SWEATER The Sister Sweater is a part of the Aase series featuring a pattern with repetitions which creates a stylish and modern Nordic look.
The pattern is inspired by Åse Lund Jensen’s beautiful pattern called “Skæl” which was originally used for a purse design.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Åse created an iconic style with pattern combinations and rhythmic decreases and increases in multi-color knitting. These details are recreated today in this design with the utmost respect for the original.
In the Aase series, you also find Aase Sweater and Aase Sweater Junior which were designed for the Isager Archives collections in collaboration with Isager Garn 2024 as well as Aase Pillow, Aase Headband, and Aase Infinity Scarf.

About the pattern
The sweater is worked top down with a European shoulder seam.
The upper part of the back piece yoke is worked in the flat, first in stockinette stitch and then in damask pattern.
Stitches for the front pieces are picked up at the back piece along the shoulders. The front pieces are worked in stockinette stitch. Then the neck opening is shaped, the front pieces are joined, and the damask pattern is worked. Front piece and back piece are then joined on a circular needle, and the body is worked in the round until it reaches the desired length and finished with a hem in twisted rib stitch. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armhole, and the sleeves are worked top down in the round and finished with a cuff in twisted rib stitch as well as an Italian bind off. Finally, stitches are picked up along the neck opening, and a folded neckline in twisted rib stitch is worked.
