Sisterhood was designed for a trunk show event at String Theory Yarn Co, a local yarn shop in Glen Ellyn, IL. Their mission is centered on the belief that all things are connected and that small choices can have a global impact.
The Sisterhood stole reflects the connection and coming together of separate elements to form something whole. Each half of the stole is worked separately, from the outer edge toward the middle, and then grafted together.
Personally, this piece represents the people and places in my life that have come together through the craft of knitting. I feel a true sense of the word “sisterhood” when I think about the things in my life that have led me to knitting. Deep family roots, as well as the true friends I have come to know and love, have made it a part of my soul, and helped me to realize the connection between past and present, small and global.

Written for a sport or DK weight yarn, this scarf makes a great piece for Spring and Fall, but could easily be worked in a variety of other weights for different seasons. Generous length allows it to be styled in multiple ways, making it easy to wear.

Construction:
The decorative edges are worked first and then blocked to size. Next stitches are picked up along the edging and the scarf is worked to the center. Stitches are held on scrap yarn and these steps are repeated for second piece. Scarf is grafted together at center using Kitchener stitch.
