In the end, everything - everything - comes down to community. I would not be where I am today, I could not have survived, without my community. Help in the hard times and mutual celebration in the happy times and everything in between.

In Tarot, the Six of Pentacles is the card of giving and receiving. It’s a card of generosity and charity, of sharing. Of harmony.

It’s not just about the prettiest yarn, or the newest pattern from the hottest designer, or notions that you don’t really need and just have to have. None of it means anything without the people we share them with. This shawl is my thank you to those people.

This crochet shawl is a top down, meditative project, my gift to an overstimulated brain. It works best in a cotton or cotton blend for a lightweight shawl to throw over a dress for a bonfire on a cool summer night; but you can also make it from a heavier wool to make something to keep you warm all through the winter.

Techniques: basic stitches, puff stitches, dc2tog, dc3tog, cluster stitches, changing colors for stripes. Stitch descriptions are provided.

Yarn: You will need approximately 630 yards of fingering weight yarn

330 yards (302 meters) of the main color - the sample used Maps Yarn Summer Blend (50% superwash merino, 50% pima cotton) in the color Under the Pavement, the Sea

300 yards (275 meters) of contrast color - the sample used Maps Yarn Summer Blend (50% superwash merino, 50% pima cotton) in the color Evergreen

Hook: Size H/5.0mm or size needed to achieve gauge and a beautiful drape

Notions: tapestry needle, scissors, an optional stitch marker to keep your place
