Sizzle Pop Sweater : A fitted circular yoke sweater knit from the top down in two-color brioche, showcasing my favorite POP! stitch pattern in the yoke, hem and tiny cuff details.
This sweater was inspired by some of my very first designs, my Pop Fizzle Hat, Sizzle Pop shawl and Pop Twizzle cowl. This is one of the first brioche stitch patterns that I developed and have always dreamed of designing a top-down circular yoke sweater pattern featuring this popular stitch. My dream has finally come true, and thanks to the help of yarn support from Fru Valborg, my tech editor and test knitters, now you can also knit one for yourself!!
For the best results in your sweater, I highly recommend choosing a speckled or variegated for your MC and a solid or semi-solid yarn for your CC. I chose to have my CC be almost a shadow of my MC, but you could go bold with high contrast, or stick with a subtle contrast. If you want to have a similar drape and gauge to my sweater, feel free to use Merino Wool, or a blend of Wool and Silk or even Cashmere for the ultimate luxurious sweater.
Skill level:
Intermediate - advanced.
Techniques used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases, circular yoke shaping, knitting in the round, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off.
Construction Notes:
This circular yoke pullover sweater is knit from the top down, starting with a two-color brioche neckband. After working this neckband, you will begin the circular yoke shaping, where the star of the show will be showcased: A Pop Band of my favorite brioche stitch pattern! You might recognize this stitch pattern from my Pop Fizzle Hat, Sizzle Pop Shawl, Pop Twizzle Cowl and Sizz Wrap. This has been my dream sweater for years, and I’m so excited to finally share it with you! The Pop pattern will be worked across the Yoke, then you will work two more increase rounds to reach the corresponding Yoke depth for your size. After separating the Sleeves from the Body, you will work even two-color brioche until you reach the Hem and the Cuffs, where you will work another fun Pop of the leaf-like stitch pattern. Feel free to modify the length of the Body and Sleeves, I’ve made it easy to do so. Just be sure you have enough yarn if you want to lengthen them!
This sweater is perfect for layering over dresses with its slightly cropped silhouette. I also love styling it over high-waisted wide-leg jeans for a more casual look.
This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience!
