I love fingerless mitts! I wear them about 9 months out of the year here in Nevada and they make my hands so snug and warm.
Slip stitches also intrigue me very much and so I used an easily memorized slip stitch pattern for these mitts. The self striping yarns gave me the look that I wanted, however use what you like and I will always encourage you to mix it up!
I usually just cast on the required number of stitches and start knitting on small projects like these and of course am always prepared to ‘frog’ if need be.
The pattern can be modified for fit and I have included notes in that regard, but please let me know if you have any questions, or suggestions, as I love to hear from you all out there!
I used a locking stitch marker to count my rows for the ‘sections’ and it really helped out. I encourage you to read the entire pattern before you begin and that way you will know if you need to look anything up.
My preferred cast on method is the German Twisted Cast On because it gives a nice smooth and stretchy edge. If you have never used this long tail cast on method you can watch me here on Jimmy Beans Wool’s site.
Have fun and knit on!!!
