The Ribbed Cactus Beanie is a fun hat with lots of texture and a cactus look! This beanie is worked flat from side to side and seamed at the end.

The pattern of this Ribbed Beanie comes in sizes from 12-24 months up to Adult L (see the Sizes section below for more info).
This beanie is a size upgrade for the Cactus Baby Beanie. However, while the baby version is worked with DK yarn, this pattern is written for Worsted weight or Aran yarn.

(I tried both worsted weight and Aran, and they both work fine)

The ribbed texture is obtained by a combination of stitches worked in the Back Loop Only (BLO) and in the Third Loop.

The pattern includes detailed instructions on:
– how to crochet in the BLO
– how to crochet in the Third Loop
– and how to Foundation Single Crochet (the foundation sc is optional).

MATERIALS
– Worsted, #4 Medium Yarn in green (see Sizes & Yardage), and white (2 yds/2m)
– 6.5-mm (K-10.5 USA, 3 UK) Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– One Pompom

SIZES
12-24 Months Head Circ. 17”-18” (44-46 cm)
Toddler Head Circ. 18”-19” (46-48.5 cm)
Child Head Circ. 19”-20” (48.5-51 cm)
Adult S Head Circ. 20”-21” (51-53.5 cm)
Adult M Head Circ. 21”-22” (56-57 cm)
Adult L Head Circ. 22”-23” (58-59 cm)

GAUGE
Ch 14.
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from your hook and in each ch across. (13 sts)
Row 2. Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st), turn. BLO hdc across.
Row 3. Ch 1, turn, third loop hdc across.
Row 4-5. Ch 1, turn. BLO sc across.
Repeat Rows 2-5, then rows 2-3 once more.

13 sts for 11 rows in 4” (10 cm)
