This luxurious yarn needs to be worn close to the skin to be fully appreciated, and what better place than your neck. The shiny, two-ply yarn called out for a cable pattern. This cable pattern is not true cabling since the stitches do not change order, but a cable needle is used to separate out six stitches so they can be wrapped together. When used with thread and cloth, this wrapping technique is called smocking. You could wrap the knitted fabric together after the knitting was complete, but here it is done as the piece is being knitted. The resulting fabric is elastic and dense – perfect for a neck warmer!
