The Spark yarn from Gingersnap was the inspiration for this pattern. It doesn’t matter where I sit around a campfire, the smoke always gets in my eyes. There is nothing better than a summer day spent at the beach and an evening in front of a campfire.

The texture stitch pattern gives an illusion of smoke and is inspired by nights by the campfire with family and friends. Socks are the perfect, portable summer knit and the easy cable repeat can be done without a cable needle.

The pattern is easily memorized and makes for an engaging but simple knit that just seems to make the socks fly off the needles.

There is a video tutorial linked in the pattern showing you my simple method for doing the small cable without a cable needle.

The pattern looks great on lots of different types of yarn…Give it a try! Check out my tester’s project pages for inspiration.

The sock is knit from the top down with a heel flap and traditional gusset. I finished it with my version of a rounded toe.

Small 56 stitch, (Medium 64 stitch, Large 72 stitch).
7 (8, 9) inches / 18 (20.25, 23) cm,approximate foot circumference.

1 skein of fingering weight yarn.

Huge thanks to my test knitters Leanne, Heather, Lorraine, Rochelle, Alexa, Darlene, Paula, Karri and Patti for their feedback and their beautiful socks.
