Center single crochets serve a dual purpose: to avoid the slant that occurs when working in the round and to keep the patterning symmetrical and crisp. NOTES

• This cowl is worked in the round with a four-color, 25-stitch repeat. If desired, the pattern can be altered to create an infinity scarf by adding additional colorwork motifs. Each motif measures 6½“ wide, and the original pattern consists of four motifs, which gives the neck warmer its 26” circumference.

• To create an infinity scarf, select a circumference that is evenly divisible by 6½ . For each repeat, work 25 chains for the foundation round. Make sure to purchase enough yarn to complete your intended project.

• Work in continuous rounds. Do not join or turn unless otherwise stated. Place marker in last stitch and move marker up as work progresses.

• To change color, work to last yarn over in old color, pick up new color, and complete stitch with new color.

• Carry nonworking color(s) behind and work over with working color unless otherwise stated. To minimize visibility of carried yarn, attempt to work over nonworking color(s) from current round as well as those that were worked over on previous round.
