Snow mountain bucket bag
Bucket bags are timeless and have become especially trendy in the last couple of years.
I’ve seen some fantastic crocheted bags over the last year, but it’s a bit more challenging to find knit versions.
It’s great for carrying my essentials, plus a book to the park with my daughters.
Consider lining it for extra durability, but you certainly don’t have to.
Either way, it’s so fun to use, and it’s keeping me right on trend with its animal print – hehe!
I believe in business with a purpose, 1$ of every pattern sold is donated to City of Hope (cityofhope.org). Thank you so much!
I think you’ll find the construction of the bag to be quite straight forward.
The bucket bag is knitted in the round from top-down using a buttonhole technique to create the opening for the straps.
The main body is knitted using colorwork. If you’ve got this far, but you’re worried your colorwork skills may not be up to scratch, I’d like to assure you - it’s easier than it looks. I’ve written the patterns so that you can follow them row by row OR I’ve done a chart that you can easily follow.
The bottom of the bag is worked in Garter Stitch and shaped using decrease stitches, and then stitches are grafted together with Kitchener stitch.
Later, you’ll knit the strap and drawstring.
It was so much fun to make an icord for the strap, but in the PDF, there is an alternative strap if you don’t like to knit icords.
By the way, if you’ve never tried knitting an i-cord, I think you’ll enjoy it!
