This pattern was inspired by the book, Selbu Mittens, reviewed in this issue. Having been a fan of Selbu mittens for over a decade, and having a hand which the Norwegian Thumb suits perfectly (while bemoaning the fact that the Latvian mitten peasant thumb simply does not work with my bone structure), the book’s collection of charts was like an Aladdin’s Cave of Wonders. Learning what names had been given to various pattern groups made it even more marvelous … and so I present to you Snowflakes, Spitballs, and Coffee Beans (with a goblin on the thumb).
