While this small snowman was designed to fit in a clear plastic ball ornament to look like a snow globe, it could contribute to your Christmas decorations in many ways: inside the transparent shell as a round ornament hanging from the tree; without the globe, using the upside down bowl as a platform; or as a standing or hanging ornament on its own without the white base.

Size
If made with DK yarn, the snowman is about 7.5 cm (3”) tall without the base, and the bowl is about 8.5 cm (a little under 3.5”) diameter and 2.5 cm (1”) tall.

Tools and materials
~ DK (or worsted weight) yarn in white, red, black, orange and green
~ 3mm (approx. US size C) hook if using DK yarn; or size that gives you a tight, no-gaps fabric
~ clear fillable plastic ornament, 10 or 12 cm (4” or 4.7”) for DK weight yarn
~ black plastic safety eyes, 6mm diameter if using DK yarn (7 mm for worsted)
~ black embroidery thread or floss
~ 3 small red beads (3mm diameter if using DK yarn), plus red thread and sewing or beading needle to attach them
~ fiberfill stuffing
~ transparent double sided adhesive tape (or glue) to stick the snowman to the ball
~ stitch marker, pair of scissors, pair of tweezers, yarn needle, pins
~ optionally, a wire cutter (to cut off the ball’s loop)

Difficulty
This pattern is suitable for intermediate level crocheters who are confident with basic stitches and frequently used amigurumi techniques (ch, sl st, sc, hdc, invisible decrease, magic ring, working in BLO/FLO).
The two-color design on the snow globe stand is created with spike stitches (which are just fancy single crochet) - it is much simpler than it looks, and requires no color changes within the round.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology (UK/Aus equivalents provided). It contains many in-progress photos, but also includes a text-only appendix for easy printing, if you prefer working from a printed pattern but want to save ink and paper.
