Sock Yarn Mittens
Almost any machine may be used. Choose one of the many self patterning sock yarns to that are now available. Standard and mid-gauge machines can knit most of
these to about 7 stitches/10 rows per inch using 5-7 on the dial for standard and 2-4 for mid-gauge machines. Bulky machines,
choose a light worsted yarn that will get 5 stitches and 7.5 rows per inch at about stitch size 4. The bulky numbers are in brackets like these . Several self-patterning #4 yarnsare available. The mittens shown were knitted using Bernat “Sox”. No ribber is needed.
