Soissons cardi
Soissons cardi is all about details. The folded neckband, cuffs and bottom hem for a classy and dressy finish, clean saddle shoulders, set-in-sleeves and delicate lace on the front body.
The cardigan is worked from the top down in all one piece seamlessly - No picking up stitches for any parts, relax! It starts off at the neckband, and then the front neck is shaped by short rows working together for the body and the saddle shoulders. Once the shoulder reaches the designed width, the sleeve is worked. The lace is all lace knitters’ dream as well as novice lace knitters like myself. It is fun to work and gives enough focus, and the result is absolutely rewarding.
I specifically wanted to use Silk Blend from Manos del Uruguay not just for its quality, but to support women who work for all the yarns. It was delightful to work in the yarn right from the beginning to the end. I cannot wait to start another design in the yarn.
The lace on the yoke from some of the testers, looks a little ummm…. But know that it’s not their fault! They followed exactly what the preliminary pattern instructed. The designer might have had a dyslexic moment and didn’t see the charts were missing something. After a meticulous examination, the charts have been corrected and the pattern is perfect.
