Solidarity Cowl
This cowl, with its graphic blocks of gray and cream, is my ode to the power of feminine voices within the #metoo movement, as well as the Times Up Initiative.
The design utilizes a Fibonacci sequence to add the cream sections of wonderful Neighborhood Fiber Co. Rustic Fingering in ever larger blocks, moving from darkness to light. There is no conventional seam – the cowl is created by a row of lace that joins both short edges in a marked, yet seamless whole. Finally, the textured lace post stitch pattern is interwoven with chains that move from dark at the bottom to light at the top, nearest the face.
I stand in solidarity with all women who refuse to be silent any longer, including the recent female gymnasts in Michigan. I pay tribute to each of their fierce courage, talent, and brilliant spirit. Persist they most definitely have.
