Solidarity Scarf
“SOLIDARITY: Unity or agreement of feeling or action, especially among individuals with a common interest; mutual support within a group.”
So much of the knitting for this project was done in the presence of my closest friends and I wanted to honor them, and all my knitting relationships, in naming this scarf. “Solidarity” seemed to capture everything I was trying to say!
Difficulty
Easy - this scarf is composed of the feather & fan, or Old Shale, lace stitch bordered by seed stitch on the long sides. The short sides are left to naturally scallop on their own.
Construction
This scarf is knit from end to end.
Yarn
Two samples were made; In sport weight I used Mountaintop Yarn Sport in the colorway “Glass Gem Corn.” The DK weight sample was made with The Fiber Faerie DK in the colorway “Lady Of The Vine.”
Needles
The sport weight sample was knit on a US size 6, while the DK sample was knit on a US size 7.
Gauge
Sport weight - 12 stitches and 16 rows in 2 inch unblocked stockinette stitch. DK weight - 11 stitches and 14 rows in 2 inch unblocked stockinette stitch.
Dimensions
Both samples measured 6 ft or more.
Yardage
You will need at least 2 skeins of sport weight, or 2 1/2 skeins of DK weight to make this scarf, depending on the length you desire.
