Sonar
Starting June 1, 2013, if you purchase 4 or more patterns from my Ravelry Shop at the same time (add them all to your cart before you check out), you automatically receive a 20% discount.
Sonar is a technique that uses sound propagation to navigate or detect underwater objects. Dolphins use sonar by producing high pitched clicks. When these clicks hit an object, some of the sound echoes back to them. They listen to the echo, and based on the time it takes for the echo to come back to them, they know the distance of the object.
I’ve been wanting to design something with a dolphin motif forever. Finally, it has found a home :)
This hat comes in a variety of sizes to fit all the kids and adults in your life who love dolphins or catching waves of any kind. (Shown in size M on female adult from the back, and on an almost 12 year old boy). I think the dolphin / wave theme is perfectly suited for all the snowboarders on anyone’s Christmas list!
Malabrigo Merino Worsted is warm and softer than words can describe, with gorgeous watercolour like variegation. Since a variety of sizes are offered and the pattern is charted, it would be very straight forward to adapt the pattern to lighter weight yarns as well (with more, smaller dolphins, of course).
Approximate yarn requirements for size M:
80 m / 90 yds of background colour;
70 m / 80 yds of brim and wave colour;
50 m / 55 yds of dolphin colour.
