The beauty of this design uses two different stitch patterns that create a rhythmic and beautifully textured fabric. The combination of an easy lace sequence and a series of simple short row shapes move easily across the row.

The lace sequence made with Yarnovers, and K2togs creates eyelet contrast stripes. Like the notes on a page of music it moves rhythmically across the fabric.

The short row shapes made by knitting back and forth, sway like dancers moving across the dance floor. Short Rows are created using German Short Rows - described in pattern.

YARN
Either fingering or sport weight yarns in 2 or 3 colors are used. Gradient yarns are so popular and this shawl is the perfect use.

Sport weight Yarn -
Size: Length 37” x Width 78”
Color A (Contrast) – Approx. 300 yds
Color B (Coordinating) – Approx. 200 yds
Color C (Gradient) – Approx. 500 yds

Fingering weight yarn
Size: Length 32” x Width 69”
Color A (Contrast) – Approx. 275 yds
Color B (Coordinating) – Approx. 100 yds
Color C (Gradient) – Approx. 430 yds

NEEDLES
Choose size of needles that give you the fabric you desire. Size US 4-6 (3.5 - 4 mm)

GAUGE
No specific gauge is required. Choose the needle size that gives you soft and light fabric. Keeping gauge loose while knitting lace rows will help to open stitches and expose design.
