Sonic Waves
Hooray, spring is here. Time for activities outdoors, markets, strolls, and festivals. Of course, you want to bring a shawl to keep you cozy in the evenings. Sonic Waves is the perfect project to wrap up in. Inspired by the age of flower power its unusual shape resembles the forms you find in nature. But you don’t have to use stark contrasting vibrant colors and go all the way down memory lane until you end up at Woodstock. Sonic Waves works just as well with subtle tones.
Sonic Waves can be knit with almost any yarn: solids, semi solids, tip dyed yarns, color gradients, and works especially well with very long color gradients. There are many different indie dyers offering long color gradients at the moment, but if you need some help I’ve added a list below. I highly recommend Wollbonbon 4 ply though which you can order at wollbonbon.de. It is a wonderful yarn to knit with an the color gradients are just stunningly beautiful.
Whichever color combination you choose for the modules, it is important to be able to tell them apart. This pattern includes a stencil that you can paint in, so you can have fun playing around with all the different colors before deciding what looks best!
Sonic Waves is originally designed for fingering yarn. The length can be adjusted by the number of module repeats, while the width can only be adjusted by the needle size you use.
I knitted 5 repeats and needed 1000 yards
All instructions are written and charted, enriched with ample photo tutorials on the techniques of shaping and joining the modules, as Sonic Waves is seamless* .This makesSonic Waves** a feasible project for most knitters.
If you are considering to knit this at some point in the future, don’t hesitate to get your pattern now as this weekend (26th and 27th of May 2018) it is on sale for 25% off the original price of $5.99. So grab it while you can!!! :-)
Happy knitting!
