The Sorbet Cardi is a closet staple, able to be worn year round. This simple button front cardigan with a subtle dot texture is worked top down without seams and is easily modified for short sleeves or a cropped length for warmer weather & outfit layering.

CONSTRUCTION

The Sorbet Cardi is worked flat, top down, and seamlessly. Beginning with a 1x1 ribbed neckband, the one-piece construction is created by working the button band on double pointed needles and the body is worked on circular needles while working short row neck shaping and raglan increases throughout the yoke. After the yoke, the sleeves are placed on hold while the body and hem are worked. The sleeves are put back on the needles and worked to your desired length.

SKILLS

This is a written pattern assuming foundational sweater knitting knowledge and is not intended to be beginner friendly. Supplemental research or practice to learn new skills may be required to complete this project.

This pattern requires a working knowledge of: knitting & purling both flat & in the round, using DPNs in tandem with circular needles, reading a simple chart, german short row shaping, increasing and decreasing.

Circular needles are used to work flat. DPNs are used for the button band while knitting the main fabric with the circular needles. The sleeves are made with the smallest cable length or preferred short circumference needles i.e DPNs or magic loop.

Cast-on, bind-off, and short row methods suggested in this pattern are able to be substituted with any other method.
