Sorcha's Shawl
Sorcha, Irish for “bright, radiant, light” (and pronounced sor + aka” or “surk + ha”), is the perfect name for this poncho knit from the neck down. With trinity eyelets, cable-and-eyelet ribs, and radiant beams emanating out, this is a fun knit with lots of color, thanks to the glorious worsted cotton/silk/rayon blend yarn used. Enjoy knitting this up … and the kudos you’ll receive everytime you wear it.
While the Kudo really works well for this design, any worsted weight wool, wool-blend or cotton would work too. If using a wool, make sure you understand that the dimensions will block out larger as wool is more conducive to great blocking.
This is a fun knit … with lots of details that will keep you working “just one more row”. It’s a great tribute to the beauty of the Emerald Isle!
To make a shorter version … one that ends about 14” from the neck … you’ll only need about 400yds
