We all have a Salt of the Earth person in our lives. SOTE is a classic Maine phrase typically reserved for someone who is genuine, trustworthy, and who puts the people around them first. Someone SOTE is hardworking, gives you the shirt off their back, does good things for the sake of goodness, because to them there is no other option. People who are salt of the earth are complimentary to everyone around them and restore our faith in humanity.

I designed this sweater in honor of these people.

This sweater is reliable, trustworthy, and classic. Structured cartridge rib lends the fabric a furrowed weatherproof look with lines as steady as the mast on the local fishing boat, while the ultralight unspun texture of Manchelopis provides a weighless softness. Weightlessness that, if started now, is light enough to knit on a cool summer evening but will keep you cozy and warm when autumn’s first frost creeps over the vegetable fields.

I used Wooldreamers Manchelopis and it is the absolute lightest yarn I’ve ever worn! Don’t let the big gauge fool you- this is like knitting with a cloud. The result is a weightless sweater that looks and feels cozy but breathes and feels like next to nothing!

Intended to be worn with 5-10”/ 15-25 cm positive ease. To select your best size, add desired ease to full bust and then pick the closest size based on finished measurements on page 12. Sample shown in size 42.25”/ 110 cm on a 34”/ 86 cm bust with 8”/ 20 cm positive ease.

Please note Manchelopis is held double throughout pattern (hold the 2 strands worked off one plate, this yarn comes 2 stranded in put up)
Wooldreamers Manchelopis 100% wool; 252 yds/ 230 m in 3.5 oz/ 100g; approximately 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8 skeins shown in colorway navy blue

690, 745, 845, 950, 1080, 1195, 1345, 1470, 1640, 1775, 1960 yds/ 630, 680, 775, 870, 990, 1095, 1230, 1345, 1500, 1625, 1790 m

Construction Notes: Front and back are knit flat, joined at the shoulders with a seam, then seamed at the sides. Sleeves are picked up and knit in the round. Note: Row instructions are based off blocked gauge. Trust row instructions because fabric pulls in greatly when being worked due to rib-like nature.

please note, while I know you all love a good seamless garment, the seams on this one give it structure and strength. Due to rthese seems it will hold integrity more over a long period of time and is less likely to warp. The seams also give the torso more visual structure to help it hold that classic shape
