Southern Hospitality
This pattern was originally offered at The Whole Nine Yarns in Woodstock, Georgia, United States for their Christmas in July celebration on 26 July 2015.
The yield per skein is 3 washcloths per skein or 7 washcloths per two skeins.
The central pocket is knit using monochromatic double-knitting -- using only one strand of yarn to create a tubular structure but using double knitting technique rather than a knit in the round technique. Beverly Royce’s Notes on Double Knitting is probably the best-known source on this technique.
The pattern contains several options for where to place the opening in the pocket as well as three options for how to bind off the 1×1 ribbing. Because the pocket is made first with a crochet chain edging all-around, the edging can be 1×1 ribbing or something else, even crochet.
Video on how to work flat three-needle bind-off without dividing the work on to two needles can be found on the designer’s YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/3DjGMXxu_Sc

(If you’ve taken a class with the designer after June 2012, this is the same format as her class handouts.)
The center will be:
The top piece of paper has pages 5 & 8 on the bottom, and pages 6 & 7 on top.
The middle piece of paper has pages 10 & 3 on the bottom, and pages 4 & 9 on top.
The bottom piece of paper has pages 12 & 1 on the bottom, and pages 2 & 11 on top.
