Southwest Rug
As seen in I Like Crochet magazine’s June 2018 issue! This rug’s design was inspired by the beautiful San Juan mountains of southwest Colorado where the designer lives. Bobble stitches create a lovely texture that is soft on the feet. Knotted fringe adds to the bohemian feel.
This is an intermediate pattern and requires chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and half double crochet stitches. Pattern is written in US terms and includes explanations of all stitches and abbreviations. US and metric measurements given.
Finished dimensions are about 37 by 48 inches (94 by 122 cm) without fringe when using Lion Brand Mandala dk weight yarn and a 4 mm hook. 37 by 56 inches (94 by 142 cm) including fringe.
Requires 9 cakes of Mandala yarn and 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn for the border and fringe. The body of the rug is worked using two strands of Mandala at once.
Pattern pdf includes written instructions for every row of the rug, charts for those who prefer working from a chart, a photo tutorial for the border and fringe, and detailed instructions.
You can use this pattern to make a beautiful blanket with 1 strand of yarn and a 5 mm hook.
This pattern has been professionally tech edited.
Please feel free to sell finished items made from this pattern if you give pattern design credit as “Southwest Rug Pattern by Susan Kennedy of PrettyPeaceful”.
