This stole is from a vintage 1922 pattern available online at the Antique Pattern Library, on page 14 of the book (page 17 of the PDF) listed as:
Smith, Addie L. Crandall. Corticelli No. 18 Knitting and Crochet Book.

The designer suggests, “The light-weight Spanish scarfs so stylish nowadays are particularly desirable when worn over dainty summer dresses. This captivating model is made in a very striking combination of Paradise and White Cobweb Yarn.”

In the pattern pdf file, there is a lovely photo of a woman modelling the stole.

An easy to memorize feather & fan lace, the stole is an excellent beginner lace project--but make sure you find needles with sharp enough points they slip easily into the fine mohair yarn! I bought a pair of ‘no-name’ wooden needles from a cheap import store because the 10mm needles I already had were too blunt.

Using laceweight mohair on 10mm needles, my stole came out to the finished size +/- 1” (2cm) of the 29” width. I made the centre white section half the suggested size, so it may be used as a scarf rather than a stole. Because of the incredible frothiness of the stole, it is actually very pretty and warm used this way.
