Sparkling Snowflakes Scarf
This design is worked with beads strung onto the yarn and knitted as you go. Here is an overview of the technique:
Stringing Beads
You will string the beads onto your working yarn in sections that are small enough to manage. After you string the beads onto the yarn, unroll 10 or 20 yards of yarn and push most of the beads up onto the yarn and rewind the beaded yarn around the ball. Before you knit each bead row, pull the required number of beads closer to the work. I have indicated a maximum number of beads to string onto the yarn in each section. You can string smaller amounts as you go if you prefer, but you will have more ends to weave in.
Knitting with Beads
Beads are worked on WS rows, reading chart rows from right to left. RS rows are knit without beads (“plain stitch”) and are not shown on the chart. To work a “bead stitch,” slip a bead up to the needle and hold it firmly in place while knitting the next stitch, being careful that bead stays on the back (RS) of the work.
The bead and the following stitch together count as one stitch. I call this a bead stitch.
