Delicate like a sparrow’s wings are the sleeves on this little summer cardi. Following the lace pattern for the sleeves will hook you right in, and you’ll have a new summer staple in no time!

Sparrow is a cute cardigan with show-stopper lace sleeves. The cardigan is worked seamlessly top-down with raglan sleeves and a V-neck. The body is worked flat and straight. This pattern utilizes compound raglans, which create a slight S-curve to the “raglan seams”. They flow better with the shape of the body, and are created simply by altering the increase rates along the raglan.

Please note the format of the pattern: the raglan repeats are given in a colour-coded worksheet, not every row is written out. May sound complicated, but I’ve only heard lovely feedback on the format from my testers! The sleeve instructions are both charted and written in the English pattern, Finnish is only charted.

The cardigan is meant to be worn with positive ease. Choose a size with approx. 4.75” / 12 cm ease at the bust circumference.

Yarn:
Jalovilla Silkki-Vuona (60 % Finnish wool, 40 % silk recycled in Finland, 205 m / 50 g) or other fingering weight yarn. Shown in colour Muta.

3-4-4-4 (4-4-4-5) 5-5-6-6 skeins.

Yardage:
650-675-730-750 (805-820-845-945) 1000-1075-1150-1225 yards / 680-700-760-785 (840-860-905-980) 1040-1125-1200-1285 meters. Using a different type of yarn (a plied sock yarn for example) may call for higher yardage.

Needles:
3,5 mm (US 4) and 3 mm (US 2½) - 40” / 100 cm circular needle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge for each section.

Gauge:
23 sts x 38 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm in stockinette worked flat (after blocking).
