Knit in the round, these fingerless mitts feature a
cuff of textured colorwork achieved through slip
stitches. Color switches occur at the beginning of
the round so that yarn is not wasted on floats that
often get caught and pulled by rings. The mitt hand is constructed in stockinette with thumb gusset increases beginning at the base of the thumb. Thumbs are constructed by separating stitches from the hand and placing them on waste yarn while finishing the hand body, then returning to pick up stitches to close gaps and work the thumb.

Inspired by the textured stitch pattern of the cuff. Named after the sparrows who splashed in my backyard birdbath while I was sitting outside designing.
