This design is inspired by a manga character from the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures.
I confess that I’m not a manga connoisseur, but my nephew -who is an avid manga reader- lent me some episode of the saga and I met a very interesting character: Spice Girl/Spicy Lady, the “Stand” (a personification of “life energy” of the owner) of Trish Una, who has the incredible power of softening everything she touches.
So I decided to design a tank top inspired to this powerful lady whose power I’d love to have!

Worked from the top-down, the top is started with the back, worked separately until the neckline, then joined and worked flat until the underarms when the work is left on hold to work the front.
The front starts in the same way, but the straps are slightly longer to allow a more generous neckline, with an optional sexy keyhole shape that closes at the underarm level.
At the underarms, the front and the back are joined and the top is worked in the round until the hem, at first in stockinette stitch (interrupted by simple twisted vertical lines), then in a fun stitch pattern with big holes, resembling the pattern visible in the character top in the manga illustrations.
The asymmetrically scalloped edge adds movement and interest to the pattern, but it is also possible to work simply a split hem, if preferred.
