SUMMARY: Spider is a hip-length pullover in either a ladies fitted version or a straight version for either sex. The fitted version features decreases knit-in from the upper hip to the waist, forming a well-defined waistline, and has fitted cap sleeves while the straight version has slightly indented sleeves and no waist fitting. Both feature an overall alternating 4-stitch cable/rib pattern in the body, hemline, cuffs and high-collar which is knit-on in the finishing stages.
SIZES: Ladies Fitted Small (Medium, Large); Ladies & Men Straight Small (Medium, Large).
FINISHED CHEST: 40 (44, 48)”/ 102 (111, 122) cm; 44 (48, 51½)”/ 111 (122, 133) cm.
YARN REQUIREMENTS: Bulky-weight yarn, fitted version: 1200 (1200, 1320) m / 1312 (1312, 1444) yds / 10 (10, 11) balls or straight version: 1440 (1440, 1560) m / 1575 (1575, 1706) yds / 12 (12, 13) balls.
SHOWN IN: Rowan Chunky, #801 Marsmallow (fitted version) and #810 Snowberry (straight version).* Note: this yarn has been discontinued but Rowan currently makes several new Chunky versions.
CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES: cable knitting, increasing and decreasing in knitting, picking-up stitches to knit onwards and back stitch or mattress stitch seaming.
