This pattern is both fully written and fully charted; I’ve included a schematic as well. The lace pattern reminds me of a spinnaker sail, ballooned full of air. This garment is an ideal combination of cowl and cape; it covers your shoulders and upper arms and stays put while you move. .

This project is worked from the bottom up. The tapered funnel shape is the result of decreases on three rows. You can easily remove a pattern repeat at the bottom if you prefer a shorter cape, or you can work additional rows at the neck. To choose your size, measure (including your lowered arms) around the fullest point of your chest, and choose a size with a lower circumference that is 3-5” less than your measurement. The garment show is modeled with about 3” of negative ease. The capelet is quite heavily beaded, and the negative ease is necessary to help the it stay in place on your shoulders.
