This pattern was originally published as Blizzard Yarn & Fiber’s contribution to the 2020 Rose City Yarn Crawl in Portland, Oregon. The pattern is also part of the 2020 Pattern Collection: Birds of the Pacific Northwest.

This is a crescent shawl that combines the Kernel Tuck Stitch Brioche technique with two-color brioche in the flat. The inspiration was the Washington State bird, the American Goldfinch. I was deeply inspired by pictures I found of an American Goldfinch in flight. I used these two brioche techniques together to design an accessory which would remind me of that visual.

Yarn
(2) skeins fingering or light fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colors, approx. 100g each.
