Spiral Socks
I love the look of spiraling in knitwear. Symmetrical spirals are even more pleasing. The spirals on these socks move in opposite directions and stop forming at the ankles. If you prefer a more asymmetrical look, make two of the same sock.
I have designed these socks to be worked from the top down with a heel flap and gusset. The pattern is completely written with no charts.
Yarn
1 skein Malabrigo Sock (Super Fine #1) (440 yards, 3.5 ounces) or other fingering weight sock yarn. The pattern would look best in a solid or semi-solid color.
Needles
U.S. size 0 (2.00mm) 40-inch circular needle (or preferred needle type).
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions
• 5 markers labeled A-E (or 5 different markers)
• 1 extra marker
• Tapestry needle
• Row counter
Gauge
28 stitches per 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch in the round.
This pattern begins by casting on 70 stitches at the top of the cuff. It can not easily be adapted to a different number of stitches.
