Spirit of Summer
By request, this pattern and the accompanying tutorials are now available to download as a printable PDF. The 7-page document includes the written as well as step-by-step photos for all stitches used and links to slow-motion videos (left- and right-handed). They are still available for free on Crafts from the Cwtch Blog
’Spirit of Summer’ is a lightweight airy shawl, made from just 100g of super-soft Scheepjes Spirit - a yarn which is 56% cotton (read more here). With an open stitch pattern, it’s just right for throwing on when the air conditioning is a bit too cold, or at the end of the day when the sun goes down. It’s machine washable and can be safely wrung out, so you don’t have to worry about travelling with it.
This top-down triangle uses only three simple crochet stitches and is great for beginners (perfect for knitters dabbling in crochet for the first time - photos are included if you’re not sure about reading crochet patterns) and it makes an easy pick-up-put-down project for more experienced crocheters so it’s a great for ‘travelling’ in that sense too. Once the set-up is complete, there are only two rows in the pattern repeat and as each row is shorter than the one before, you’ll find yourself sailing through it in no time.
Photo- and video-tutorials for the stitches in this pattern are also provided on Crafts from the Cwtch blog here.
