Materials:
- 35 (55, 70, 95, 120, 145, 180) Yards of #2 Sport Weight / Fine Yarn - I used Queensland Cotton Coastal Fine in Azure, Malachite & Cobalt
- G6/4.25mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
Yarn Alternatives: WeCrochet CotLin, Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK and I think Juniper Moon Zooey
I originally intended on using a F5/3.75mm crochet hook when I was planning out this washcloth design, but out of habit, I reached for my G6/4.25mm, which I usually use with lightweight #3 yarn, and I liked how it was coming along so I kept going with it. The drape is gorgeous, but it is a little holey. Feel free to go down hook sizes for a tighter stitch.
Time Spent:
I worked up the 7” size in just under an hour and a half.
Sizes:
4”, 5”, 6”, 7”, 8”, 9”, 10”
Gauge (Not Essential):
Measured in Pattern: 17 HDC by 11 Rows = 3 3/8” Square
Note: If you are measuring a swatch that is only 17 HDC wide by 11 rows tall, it will measure slightly larger. If working a swatch, I recommend working at least 20-25 stitches by 15-18 rows, but a swatch is not necessary for this project unless the finished size is essential to you.
When working the pattern, the border will add about 3/8” to the width and height. After working about 6 - 8 rows, you can measure the width, add in the border, and you will know if the finished size will be where you want it to be. The height is even easier to see as you can measure as you go, and stop when you get close to your desired height making sure to figure in the border.
Abbreviations (US Terms):
- SC - Single Crochet
- HDC - Half Double Crochet
