This pattern is part of the eBook “Berlin - wrapped in Red”, the result of a collaboration between Steffi Palm & Marion Bulin, owners of Yarn over Berlin, and their fabulous and creative friends. The eBook is part of the Malabrigo Freelance pattern project and features several Malabrigo yarns used for ten red patterns named after Berlin´s districts, rivers or sights.

The Spree Shrug is reversible and seamless. It is knit from side to side with a provisional cast on, I-cord edging and a grafted finish. The cabled edging gives it a clean and finished look while adding just enough weight to lie gently on your shoulders. Inspired by the Spree River which winds through the middle of Berlin, the cables curve around and frame the shrug.

Yarn: Malabrigo Sock, 100% Superwash Merino, shown in colorway Tiziano Red.
Gauge: 23 sts = 10 cm/ 4 inches in stockinette after blocking.
Needle Size: US 4/ 3.50 mm, circular needle 32 inches or longer.
You will need 2 sets for the cast on.
Sizes: approx. 110 cm/ 43 inches (124 cm/ 49 inches) wide and 86 cm/ 34 inches (100 cm/ 40 inches) long after washing and blocking
Yardage: 4 skeins – 1.609 m/ 1.760 yards
Notions: Cable needle, stitch markers, darning needle to weave in ends.
