Spring Garden Socks
This sock pattern was written for double pointed needles and has instructions for three sizes:
- Small (56 sts)
- Medium (64 sts)
- Large (72 sts) sizes
This is not a beginner pattern and would be better suited to intermediate/advanced sock knitters.
This is a toe up sock pattern, worked in one piece, from the toe up to the cuff. Casting on requires using a two needle cast-on method. The toe of the socks is knitted first, before moving onto the foot, the gusset, the heel, then the leg and finally finishing on the cuff. A stretchy cast off is used to cast off the stitches of the cuff.
Instructions for this sock are provided in both written and charted format.
The design for these socks was inspired by my garden at the beginning of springtime. After a long cold winter, the warmer spring weather breathes new life into the garden: flower buds start to emerge, and the thought of those empty trellis structures soon being filled with vibrant, colourful flowers fills our hearts with joy.
My Spring Garden Sock is a Toe Up sock design featuring a traditional heel flap and gusset. This sock has a flower bud design on the top of the foot which carries on into the front of the leg, while the back of the leg has a lattice pattern reminiscent of those empty trellis structures.
I hope that this pattern will help intermediate sock knitters to understand how toe up socks with a traditional heel flap and gusset develop while using double pointed needles.
