I designed this hat to help me practice my budding skills with the makkin belt but it works just fine with regular knitting styles too. Also, while it is technically Spring here in PEI, many days still require warm woollies. This is the perfect project to serve both purposes.

Yarn:

120 yards of worsted weight yarn in main color (MC) 120 yards of worsted weight yarn in contrast color (CC)

You will need approximately 145 yards in contrast color if you choose to make the optional pompom.
