Spring always means lace and crochet to me. It is the one time of year where my designing mojo really kicks into gear and I start sifting through the ideas that winter has brought me.

Most people think that crochet should be relegated to the cold months but I disagree. Using lightweight yarns, larger hooks, and openwork stitches make for a fun, light, and flirty way to add a bit of sexy to your wardrobe.

This shawl is worked form the center out (or top down…basically you start at the top and work out and down at the same time…super basic construction). A section of solid crochet gets us ready for the fun (and fast!) filet crochet section. We end with a lacy floral inspired edging that is as easy to complete as it is to wear.

This shawl is more of a shawlette size BUT can be made any size you want by just repeating the sections and working out. It can be worn tied around your neck, thrown over your shoulders, or off to the side kept in place with a shawl pin.

You will need about 400yds of sock yarn and a US H/5.0mm crochet hook. The stitches are basic enough for a crocheter to master but also quick enough to complete this shawl in a day or two.
