Spring Sweater
It all started with the Year of Mittens back in 2016, then came the Year of Hats, followed by Gifts, and last year’s Bulky Hats. Now in honor of our 15th Anniversary, we’re sharing a Season of Sweaters.
The Season of Sweaters features four free patterns perfect for the changing of the seasons. Patterns are designed by Kate and Courtney and will be published on the first Friday of spring, summer, fall, and winter and feature the following Kelbourne Woolens yarns: Scout, Mojave, Andorra, and Germantown.
How about a kit? Grab it from us here or ask for one at your favorite LYS!
Worthy of Note
The first pattern from our Season of Sweaters, Kate designed the Spring Sweater to be a classic, go-to throw on anytime with anything pullover.
As the Tiny Tuck Stitch causes the fabric to grow widthwise, decreases are worked after the ribbing, and the stitch is worked on a smaller needle than typically recommended for Scout. Worked in pieces from the bottom up, once the pieces are blocked and seamed, stitches are picked up to work the neck.
We recommend using a sloped bind off when binding off the armholes and neckline. See the Useful Tips for a link to a photo tutorial on how to work the bind off.
