ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Springerle Cowl features basic decreases and yarn overs to create the feel of pressed cookies on a background of reverse stockinette. One cable interconnects the shapes into an all-over pattern. Named Springerle for the traditional cookies our family makes every year at the holidays. Directions for both the Long and Short versions are fully written and charted as two separate patterns giving you two cowl patterns for the price of one! Short Version:
about 23” around by 9” tall (58.5 cm by 23 cm)
Long Version: about 41” around by 7” tall (104 cm by 18 cm)

MATERIALS
Yarn:

Short Version: 250 yds (230 m) DK weight
Short Version sample cowl knit in Miss Babs Kaweah in the color Dark Roast and used about 100 g or 245 yards.
Long Version: 280 yds (255 m) DK weight
Long Version sample cowl knit in Miss Babs Kaweah in the color Russet and used almost all of 115 g or 280 yards.
Needles:
Size US 6 (4.00 mm) circular needle - 16” (40 cm) for short version 24” (60 cm) for long version
(or size needed to get gauge)
Notions: stitch marker, 2 dpn or cn for cables, tapestry needle
