Spring's Dance
Spring’s Dance is a long stole designed in the tradition of Estonian Lace. It is knitted from 3 original charts. These designs were inspired from the garden in my backyard with a Koi pond, a lovely ancient Gingko tree and of course Dragonflies. Koi Ripples is the edging for both the top and bottom. This edging is knitted with the border, Gingko Lace. The edging and border at the top of the stole are knitted separately and grafted to the body with the kitchener stitch. The body chart, Dragonfly Wings, is an all over pattern and is repeated 15 times vertically. There is a 4 stitch garter border on both sides of the stole.
The stole incorporates a beautiful, traditional stitch called the “nupp”; pronounced “noop”. This stitch adds texture to the shawl by performing YOs and knitting in the same stitch, then picking up these loose stitches in the following purl row.
Although this stole may be knitted in a variety of yarn fibers and weights, to obtain the size given, you will need a lace weight yarn and the gauge given.

WORKSHOP INFORMATION
This stole is part of a workshop being conducted on Knitting Paradise. It is part of Knitting and Crochet Workshops with Designer1234 and is being taught by the designer, designated Dragonflylace. This workshop started on April 4, 2013. In order to access the workshop, please go to this link:

Once you get to this link, look for Workshop #22: Spring’s Dance Lace Shawl, with Dragonflylace. The actual pattern is a download on page 3 of the current pages of the workshop.
Please be aware that this is a workshop and not a Knit - A - Long. Instructions are provided by the teacher, not the participants. At sometime in the future if the workshop is shown as “Closed”, do not be alarmed. All information is permanent, (as it is for all the other workshops listed). I will answer questions on the #22 workshop for as long as it is open and then I refer you to workshop #6 - Preparation for Learning Lace. This is a permanently open workshop where I answer questions about lace only. In this workshop, I teach the stitches needed to learn to knit lace and provide motifs and small projects to practice these stitches.
This stole was designed and test-knitted in lace weight yarn. Approximately 440 yards / 50 grams of yarn. The yarn is 2-ply. Therefore, if you use any other yarn, you may not achieve the same results. The amounts of yarn are based on the gauge given and discussed previously. So, if you use fingering, sock, sport weight or any others, you may need more or less yarn and your stole may be a different size.
