This hat was designed for the Madison Knitter’s Guild’s 2017 Knit-In Summer Picnic event. Its pop of bright flowers signals the coming of spring, even as a hat is still needed for warmth through a wintery Wisconsin March and April.

Spring’s Sprung is worked in simple stranded knitting in three colors of sport weight yarn: one neutral and two bright colors. The color work pattern is charted and designed to be an easy first stranded knitting project. Only on a few rows of knitting have yarn floats long enough to need to be ‘caught’.

Work up your own hat as a reminder of spring on a blustery late-winter day.

Skills Needed to Successfully Complete This Pattern: knit, purl, work in the round, knit front & back increase, simple stranded color work, knit 2 together decrease, make pompom.
