Using Increases and Decreases
By alternating increases (two stitches worked in the same hdc) in one color with decreases (hdc-sc-tog) in the next color, you can create right angles. To continue those angles, you simply reverse the order (decrease, then increase) on every other row. An increase will always be paired with a decrease in order to maintain the same number of stitches at the end of each row. You’ll also use late color changes to create smoother angles, as in the previous square.
