“St. Ives Celtic cardigan”
for children by Woolly Hooligan designs
Inspiration:
I have 2 amazing daughters, one is all about pink (Matador Mini design) and the other blue. This is the “blue” cardigan she has been asking for. It’s all her, the depth of Malabrigo blue reminds me of the ocean, pure, vast and limitless. Like my daughter, as she is full of complex layers and wisdom, I am still trying to grasp.
The twists in cables are perfect really, representing her journey of self-discovery, full of unexpected turns but always end in a join, which is our family unit. We took a trip to the English Cornish coast and spent 2 weeks in glorious St. Ives. I have an image of that coast in my head as I knitted this cardigan, thus the name. I hope you enjoy this knit.
I love Malabrigo yarn, I use it a lot, its perfect for kids. Non-itchy, durable and full of complex colour variation adding unparalleled depth to any garment.
Notes about Construction:
A perfect little child’s cardigan with raglan increases. Knitted top down with decorative raglan , and a Celtic cabled collar. Collar is knitted separately and attached to body at the end. A little taper in sleeves, provides a custom fitted look.
