Scarves are one of those must have accessories on chilly or windy days, and what could be better than one that resembles a stained glass window pane?!

This pattern was inspired by a gorgeous sunrise photo that a friend of mine took. I had this image in my head of looking at it through a stained glass window and how pretty that would be. My fingers transformed that into a knitting pattern!

This is a fair isle scarf pattern, perfect for those chilly days, that is worked flat with a subtle picot edge. The right and left twists travel diagonally across the sunrise colored yarn to resemble the diamond panes of a stained glass window.

This scarf is perfect for an intermediate knitter, utilizing the techniques of knit, purl, right and left twists, knit two together, yarn overs, and color stranding for the fair isle design. Educational links are provided for the right and left twists.

What do you need:

• Two skeins of yarn of sport weight, though fingering will work as well, each around 300 yards. You need one in a solid color - it looks best in dark gray or black. And one in a variegated color.

• US number 3 (3.25 mm) needle

• US number 5 (3.75 mm) needle

• Tapestry needle to sew the picot edge and weave in ends

• (2) Stitch markers.
