PLEASE NOTE there are two versions of mittens in the pattern, both knitted to the same gauge with the same resulting finished measurement. One pair (worsted weight) is a loosely stitched fabric, the other (aran weight) is tightly stitched. The loose/tight stitching means one will be better suited for deep freeze temps, the other for weather that isn’t as cold. Choose the yarn weight for the fabric you would like for your mittens. See below for yarn used, under the MATERIALS heading.

There’s nothing easier to pull on than a pair of ambidextrous mittens. Without a right/left thumb placement, they’re quick to put on before heading out the door.

Both front and back of the mitten features an eight pointed star, and a smaller, single star pattern on the thumb.

There’s a play on fabric density with the yarn chosen for the pattern. Knit using a lighter yarn gauge for a fabric with more drape, or knit the mittens using a heavier weight yarn for a tightly knitted fabric - perfect for cold, deep freeze temperatures and harder wearing.

The pattern is written for one size, fitting a 7.5” / 19 cm hand circumference (measured across the knuckles). You can experiment with size by changing needle size, and yarn weights. (Just note when using yarn weight, needle size or knitted gauge that’s different from the pattern, this will mean your total yarn consumption will vary from the listed amounts in the pattern).
